An YSL inspiration at Zara?

As it is well known to practically all of you, the death of Yves Saint Laurent that occurred on June 1st 2008 was quite recent. After many talks, it seems that quite a few fashion lovers presumed that the upcoming trends for fall 2008 would include inspirations of YSL designs, however instead it includes trends such as country style, minimalist, long view, winter garden and belle curves which is completely reasonable due to the time consuming work required prior to each seasons collection it would be impossible to start working on a new idea for Fall!

The other day when I found myself looking through the new collections at the Zara store, I happened to notice an entire section of Russian inspired garments. This collection reminded me of the YSL ‘Ballet Russe’ collection of 1976. It most certainly wasn't as drastic as the one YSL had, considering the different target market of course.

I think it’s interesting how a retailer like Zara which is known for their designer inspired styles at super reasonable prices, had a sincere idea to bring back a popular trend from the past before high end designers had the chance to.

I may be entirely wrong of Zara’s Russian inspired collection, and it may have not been to any symbolization of YSL 1976 collection, but regardless, to one that may know of YSL love for his “Imaginary Voyages” where he would be most inspired to design, the Zara collections truly brings that commemoration of him back.

Unfortunately, Zara hasn't updated their site with the images of their new collections, however, the following are a few sketches from YSL's 'Ballet Russe' collection. I will post the inspired garments as soon as they are on the Zara website.
